The ING Community Fun Zone Challenge was designed to encourage spectator and community participation in the ING Miami Marathon®, and it did just that! The final eight miles of the course were highlighted by five Fun Zones, which created five exciting environments that helped cheer the runners on their quest to complete the marathon.

Although the Fun Zones were all supporting the runners, they were competing amongst each other to determine which groups stood out above the others. The top three Fun Zones were given a cash prize for their efforts in making the ING Miami Marathon® more of a community event.

The Trinbago Village

First Place: Miami Parrot Head Club
From the break of dawn to the onset of a beautiful Florida sunset, the Parrot Heads came out and created a memorable Fun Zone. When the runners reached mile 23, on the Rickenbacker Causeway, they arrived at an area that would have made Jimmy Buffett proud. A live band, tiki bar, and dozens of enthusiastic spectators were showing their support for all the runners.

Second Place: Hurricane Bhangra
The group with the least amount of people was the group that created the most energy. Every runner that went by the Fun Zone was greeted with the excitement of the lively form of Punjabi music and dance.

Third Place: The Trinbago Village, Produced by Visionz, Inc.
The final Fun Zone on the course had plenty to offer both runners and spectators. Everyone that came by The Trinbago Village was treated with a steel drum band, a live DJ, and free Trinbago food and drink. The entertainment from the Fun Zone gave the runners the strength they needed to complete the final mile of the marathon.

| Fun Zone: Shake-A-Leg Miami
The group that normally does their activities in the water came on land to support the runners. Even though they were on land, the canoes and sailboats were out catching the breeze. With bongo drums and an energetic group of people Shake-A-Leg Miami created a loud atmosphere that pushed the runners along the course.

Fun Zone: Miami Capoeira
Located in the center of Grand Ave, the Brazilian game of Capoeira was shown to the runners as they passed by. The live chants and athletic movements of the Capoeira dancers made this first Fun Zone an electrifying site.
