The ING Miami Half Marathon® is certainly becoming a favorite for runners throughout the world. Many come for the course for it is fast and dramatically inspiring. Runners of the ING Miami Half Marathon® will start together with their friends running the ING Miami Marathon® and then they will finish at the same finish line. The only deviation occurs in the last 800 meters of the race.

ALL finishers will receive the most unique finisher's medal ever designed for runners.
Please note: To our knowledge, the ING Miami Marathon and Half Marathon® was the first race in the world to have a spinning medal. It is now the first to have a double spinner and the first to include a rhinsetone in its design. The spinning medal idea originated at our race in 2004.
All runners will also receive an Official Finisher's Certificate showing their Official Finishing Time and Place.

In celebration of the 2008 new spinning medal, organizer's have teamed up with Richard's Gems and Jewelry to giveaway two One Carat Unset Diamonds.
We will be conducting two sweepstakes - the "Marathon Diamond Medal Sweepstakes" and "Half Marathon Medal Diamond Sweepstakes".
Registered participants of the half marathon and full marathon will be automatically included into their respective sweepstake drawings. One entry from the "Marathon Diamond Medal Sweepstakes" and one from the "Half Marathon Diamond Medal Sweepstakes" will be randomly selected during the starting ceremonies.
The winning race number will be posted at Richard's Gems and Jewelry in downtown miami shortly thereafter, and remain posted for 5 days at the store. After you finish your race, just head on over to Richard's Gems and Jewelry to see if your Bib Number is the winning Bib!

Awards
If you are not present at the awards ceremony to receive your award, shipping and handling charges will apply if you request award to be mailed. We ask that you pick-up your award at the awards ceremony to avoid having to send via mail.
*Please note that all age group awards are based on ChampionChip time, NOT gun time. However, course records and prize money will be determined according to gun time.
Custom designed Miami-Style medals will be awarded 3 deep in each division for the ING Miami Half Marathon. The divisions are as follows:

- The ING Miami Half Marathon® use the ChampionChip timing system. Supplied and administered by Splitsecondtiming.com.
- All participants who do not own a Yellow ChampionChip will receive a Black ChampionChip in their race packet distributed at the TotalHealth & Fitness Expo Presented by The Miami Herald.
- If the participant owns a ChampionChip and will be using it for the ING Miami Half Marathon®, the number must be provided in the application.
- Participants who do not own a ChampionChip and will be using the Black ChampionChip will need to return it after the race. A $30 charge will be assessed if the ChampionChip is not returned.
- Participants MUST wear their ChampionChip. NO chip, NO time.
- ChampionChip mats will be placed at the start, 10K point and finish line.
- ChampionChips will not work at the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Florida Tropical 5K Benefiting Community Partnership for Homeless.
