Tropical 5K Course
|
The race will serve as a sneak preview and warm-up for those running the marathon or half marathon. Friends and family not running the marathon or half marathon will be able to share the Miami Marathon Weekend experience. The course for the Tropical 5K will use the very same route used in the first portion of the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon course. Cruise ships lined up along the Port of Miami, gentle sea breeze blowing from South Beach, million dollar homes of the surrounding islands, towering luxury condos, sparkling turquoise waters of Biscayne Bay... all this in just a 5K course |

What's a Point-to-Point race?
The race course follows a point-to-point format. What that means is that runners will be starting at one "point" and finishing 5 Kilometers (3.1 miles) away. It is not a loop course but rather a nearly straight path to the finish line. You may park your car near the start and designated race shuttle buses will take you back from the finish line area. Some runners may choose to park near the finish line and jog to the start as a warm-up |
| Any elevation? There is one overpass during the two mile portion of the course. This overpass is simply a gradual elevation with an estimated 50 feet above sea level height. Other than this overpass the rest of the course is flat and fast.
An Event Status System will be displayed at each mile marker indicating the status of the race based on the current course and weather conditions: Green – "Normal" - Good conditions; runners/walkers should be alert and enjoy the race. Yellow – "Caution" - Less than ideal conditions; runners/walkers should slow down and drink plenty of water. Red – "Dangerous" - Potentially dangerous conditions;
Timing of the event has stopped and no awards will be given out at this time. Medical remains in place on course. Black – "Cancelled" - Extreme dangerous conditions; Event cancelled, participation stopped – runners/walkers should stop, seek shelter and follow instructions from race staff, volunteers, and public safety officials. |
